Alocasia 'Pink Dragon'

Alocasia 'Pink Dragon' is a pink-stemmed cultivated Alocasia with green arrow-shaped leaves, darker venation and a rhizomatous base. Its coloured petioles lift the leaves above the pot in clear pink to rose-toned contrast.

The blades have a clean arrow-shaped outline and a firm tropical look, with visible veins across the green surface. Depending on leaf age and growing conditions, the lower leaf surface can appear green to deeper burgundy.

Pink petioles with arrow leaves

  • Pink to rose-toned petioles.
  • Green arrow-shaped leaves with darker venation.
  • Upright rhizomatous growth from a central base.
  • Lower leaf surface can show green to burgundy tones.
  • Pink-stemmed plant in the European Aurora/Pink Dragon background.

Leaf contrast in a compact plant

Alocasia 'Pink Dragon' has clear contrast between pink petioles and green leaves. The coloured stems stay visible as the plant develops, giving the plant an upright profile even before it reaches a larger size.

In European cultivation, Alocasia 'Aurora' was rebranded as Alocasia 'Pink Dragon'. The plant has pink petioles, green blades, visible venation and a warm-growing indoor habit.

Pink-petiole growth from warm roots

  • Light: Gentle grow-light exposure helps petioles stay firm and leaves size up well. Direct midday sun can scorch the leaves.
  • Water: Let the upper layer of substrate begin to dry before watering again. Keep the mix lightly moist in active growth and reduce wet periods in cool conditions.
  • Substrate: Use a chunky aroid mix with bark, coco chips, perlite, pumice or lava. The rhizome needs drainage and oxygen around the roots.
  • Humidity: Humid but ventilated air helps new leaves expand cleanly. Airflow reduces stagnant moisture around the leaf bases.
  • Temperature: Maintain steady warmth while the plant is producing new leaves. When the room cools, let the upper mix dry further before the next soak.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly as the plant produces new leaves with a balanced fertiliser. Reduce feeding when the plant slows down.
  • Potting: Choose a draining pot that fits the root ball closely. Move up gradually once roots have filled the container.
  • Propagation: Propagation is by corms, offsets or rhizome division once young growth has active roots.

Pink petioles under growth stress

  • Drooping petioles: Check substrate moisture, root health and temperature before adjusting watering.
  • Yellowing older leaves: One ageing leaf can retire during new growth; several yellowing leaves point to root or watering stress.
  • Brown leaf marks: Review direct sun exposure, dry air and cold contact near windows.
  • Speckled leaves: Inspect the undersides and petiole bases for spider mites.

Pink stems and safe access

Alocasia 'Pink Dragon' contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals. If chewed, the plant can irritate the mouth, tongue and throat. Keep it away from pets and children that may bite leaves or stems, and wash your hands after handling damaged tissue.

Aurora connection behind Pink Dragon

Alocasia belongs to the family Araceae. The genus name combines Greek a-, meaning apart from, with the related aroid name Colocasia. In Europe, the plant long known as Alocasia 'Aurora' is also sold as Alocasia 'Pink Dragon'.

Just what we needed
Color: Orange & Blue Squirrel, Size: 4.7 inches (1 Pack)
This toy has been great for my dog who eats all her toys! We were having such an issue with all of her toys being so hard that we didn’t want to throw them around our house. This was the perfect solution. She hadn’t eaten through it and it’s nice and soft for fetch without destroying your house!

My lab loves t
Color: Orange & Blue Fumbler, Size: 3 x 8.5 x 9 inches (1 Pack)
This toy is my labs favorite toy. She’s obsessed and we were happy to find a toy she loves that can stay inside with us. The problem is how easily she tears it apart. We have to buy her a new one every month because when she bites into it it breaks down the foam inside, and from there she shreds the roping it’s covered in. We try to stop her, but with how often we play with it it’s inevitable. We have resigned ourselves to buying a new one once a month.

Not Chuck-It Durable
Color: Orange & Blue Squirrel, Size: 4.7 inches (1 Pack), Color: Orange & Blue Squirrel, Size: 4.7 inches (1 Pack)
Sadly only lasted an hour. My dog likes to pull apart toys over the course of a few months, with the exception of Chuck-It toys. They usually never get destroyed by him. I think its a good product but if you are looking for the durability like other toys from Chuck It - just wanted to share this is not the toy for you! Made him happy so not regretful of buying it, just wish it lasted longer. Here is him posing with it after he took bites of it like it was an apple.
